Structure of Man-Form and Planes
How man is constituted.
Let us see briefly what man is and how he is constituted. He is an individualised life called Jeevatma (Monad),
enclosed in three prakritic vestures named respectively.
"Manasic" (mental)
"Sukshma" (Subtle matter, sometimes called the, Astral Body)
"Sthoola" (the physical body)
These three, of course, represent the most generalised forms of vehicles.
The physical body represents the most solid condensation, it is the final limit of the individual functioning soul.
By means of it, man forms a "Picture" in Space.
(vehicles) of man the Physical, the Astral, and the Manasic (mental) bodies for the use of the individual Jeevas, to function and evolve in the cosmos, expressing varieties of qualities, structure etc.
Yet these varieties of coatings are every one of them ultimately evolved as atomic products from the same source as the Jeeva.
the Manasic Jeeva or mental body being the most rarified, the sukshma (Astral) being less so, while the Physical is the most condensed of the productions.

- Adhi – This Adhi has been converted into Physical, Astral and Mental Planes
- Paramadhi – The Paramadhi has been converted into Mental, Budhic, Nirvanic Planes.
- Maha Adhi or Mukthi Adhi has been converted into Nirvanic, Para Nirvanic and Maha Para Nirvanic Planes
Thus all forms of existence are Atma only and there is no "other" to it.
It is because of the stratification into various levels of existence in Brahmanda (the Universe)
that we also have differences of forms and functions according to their respective limitations.
It thus happens reveals only its own limited functions and attributes, but obscures, as it were behind a veil the characteristic truths and experiences of the higher levels,
such a condition of limited activity at each level is, as it were, the Law of the Cosmic process of "Becoming."
Hence the physical body shows its own nature; but is ordinarily incapable of revealing the functions of the higher vehicles.
But for this law, there would have been no variety or complexity for a differentiated world of beings these differentiated states of form and function in the cosmos are known as Planes of being (or Lokas), It is also to be noted that each lower vehicle is under the control of the next higher one.
This is of course implicit in the use of the terms "Higher" and "Lower" in the context. The Higher level acts as the "Limit" into which the Lower may not transgress.
These restrictions and limitations of knowledge imposed on the Lower by the Higher at every level together constitute "Maya" — a word which signifies the inability of any vehicle to become conscious or to reveal to others the knowledge of the various higher levels that are imbedded within it as sheath within sheath.
"Maya" represents the mode by which the movement of the world process becomes possible further and further outward.
It is because of these impassable partitions that separate plane from plane that it is impossible for one who has reached the Samadhi state to bring down to the pnysical
(Jagrath) level when he returns to ordinary physical consciousness, any attainment of knowledge he may have gained during the Samadhi state.
The experience of Samadhi he has perforce to leave behind him there, whatever knowledge or power may have come to him in that state so that when he returns to the physical he finds himself none the gainer for his Samadhi;
all the original privations like hunger, thirst, desire etc. assail him here as ever.
He no more succeeds in bringing here the fruits of Samadhi than a dying person is able to take his body or other physical possessions to the world beyond.
Extracts from Master Notes about Planes:
PLANES
Most of the practitioners use this word 'PLANES.' very commonly. Starting from Budhic plane, Mental plane to Maha Para Nirvanic Plane. MTA gave the precise definition of this ‘Plane’ on 8.2.1912 as below.
Extracts of MTA message dated 8.2.1912
“The estuary of each thought permits to mark as seed for growth. The growth gains the fruit for sensation. So, this subject agrees to all stages of working out problems, by which we aim to note by thought force action, whereby each can help for manifestation of something. So, the forces of such points, which limits by the force of each and every injection of thought force is called a plane.”
Above extract can be understood as below for clarity.
The thought force released by the practitioner enters the universally present thought force system and will help in development of the practitioner. Such development can be observed as sensation in the body. With such a system, the transmission of thought force by the practitioner helped in overcoming the problems in the yoga system establishment. The frequency limits of such thought forces are classified as different planes.
We can understand from Master CVV’s literature that while He was in physical, the thought quality of each of the Mediums was observed in terms of the Plane / Sub-Plane level reached and accordingly the needed practices were given to them as courses. These course practices are limited to those Mediums only.
Between 16.6.1910 and 20.6.1910, M.T.A described the functions in different PLANES.
List of the same is thus.
1. Budhic Plane – Due to links attached to the system, bodily functions improvements happen upon self-suggestions.
2. Mental Plane – Mind gets altered to be able to understand that intellect is working with the most congenial object. Scales attached into the inner ocean current enable to reach Sahasraara and phono sounds, or feelings reach to the head. These scales remain permanent and work in the way a watch works in this line.
3. Astral Plane – Before transiting to Astral body, one must be able to establish routine functioning of the physical in the above planes. With strong determination, practitioner will be able to penetrate others’ bodies or matter and have a transparent glass telescope like astral vision into those bodies or matter to particle formation level, in the first stage. Astral vision conversations can be carried out with thought power during the next Will Culturing stage to communicate with others in Astral plane.
Retina undergoes change and colors not seen by ordinary people will be visible to eye.
4. Spiritual Plane – Person with enormous concentration, sympathetic heart, fine obligation of thought, punctual character, calm motions and a will of intuition, will get ability to control other bodies, to give them dream state or sleeping state and to produce curtain like picturesque phenomenon. Many mediums failed to reach this plane.
5. Nirvanic Plane – This is the plane which gives perfect and satisfactory development which can be used for unknown unidiomatic postures.
6. Para Nirvanic Plane – The most powerful plane turning out the limits and the cause of enquiry, gives evolving power for evolution and involving power for involution. Reaching this plane is rare for human beings. Extremely determined and benevolent humans who have completely left worldly pleasures can reach this plane. However, in this plane humans cannot decide or commensurate actions as per their own views. This is plane for divine notions.
The above essay is an extract from Master C.V.V.'s direct disciples' (mediums) S. Narayana Iyer's writings (T.S. Sankar Aiyer supported his writings.)
